2010 Workshops

SARANA MILLER, AUG. 15 and 16

Sunday, August 15: 3-5 p.m. at Rainforest Yoga
Core Strength in Everything You Do

In this class, we’ll use Tadasana (Standing Mountain Pose) to learn principles of core engagement and alignment you can apply in even the most challenging asanas—and in challenging situations off your mat, too. Core engagement will make your entire asana practice safer and more effective. It’s just as valuable in off-the-mat activities, so we’ll explore how you can use core engagement in your everyday life; whether you’re driving your car, going for a walk, or lifting a load of laundry, you’ll be more comfortable and effective if you’re supporting yourself from your core. In fact, as you learn to be mindful of and rely on your core strength, you’ll find yourself moving through your life with more awareness, poise, ease, and confidence. Open to all levels. COST: $25

Sunday, August 15: 7-8 p.m. at Taproot Yoga (Dunn St. in the Valley)
Kirtan Chanting

Led by Sarana and accompanied by harmonium and drums. Chanting (kirtan) is a part of the path of devotional yoga (bhakti). In India, kirtan is accepted as one of the surest paths to enlightenment. This heartfelt expression compares to profound states of deep meditation.

When we gather together to sing like this we are helping each other find our own paths. All these paths wander on in their own way, but in truth we are all travellng together and until the last of us arrives ,we will all keep traveling. So let's sing! COST: BY DONATION

Monday, August 16: 5-7 p.m. at Rainforest Yoga
The Three Rs (Relaxing, Rejuvenating, and Restorative)

In this session we will explore relaxing and rejuvenating restorative poses and yin-style hip openers. Long held yin poses allow for a depth of opening and hydration of tissue. These active summer months are a wonderful time to nourish your body, mind, and spirit. Learning these simple restorative poses will help you integrate their medicine ,of deep rest and energy replenishment into your daily life. Class open to all levels. COST: $25

Space is limited. REGISTER: Bev at bevingram@gmail.com or 321-4021.
