about our organization

Rainforest Yoga is a membership-based nonprofit whose mission is to foster a vital yoga community in Juneau. Our purpose is to promote spiritual growth through instruction in the art, science, and philosophy of yoga.

Money generated from memberships funds props, basic maintenance, teacher training, and offsets the cost of bringing in guest teachers. A portion of our net revenue is set aside for scholarships, available to students and teachers. To add your name to our e-mail list, please e-mail us or use our contact form.

our history
The basis for the formation of Rainforest Yoga was the closure of a long-established studio, The Yoga Den, in January 2003. A group of dedicated students and teachers then created a community-based yoga studio in Juneau. The group formed a nonprofit organization in July 2004.

A nine-person board of directors provides organizational guidance. Rainforest Yoga’s annual membership meeting is held in the spring. The annual meeting provides the members of Rainforest Yoga an opportunity to meet with the board, review past accomplishments, and provide input about future planning. Of course, the members of the board welcome input at any time.
